Dr. Mohannad Barakat Has Significant Teaching Experience

Dr. Mohannad Barakat has received several honors and distinctions in his career. He has expertise in the areas of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pathology. He is involved with the teaching and examination of students, junior and senior doctors at various stages of their education, allied professionals, and theatre staff at a local, national and international level. He is the holder of Oxford Teaching the Teachers Certificate, and is an examiner on the Miller FRCS course. He is the reviewer for the British Medical Journal (BMJ), Journal of Joint and Bone Surgery (JBJS) and the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (EJOST).

His areas of specialization include trauma, orthopaedic and spinal surgery. He has fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons (Trauma and Orthopaedics), membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, MB ChB and Bsc Neuroanatomy honours. He is competent in all aspects of trauma surgery from the simple to complex of trauma cases. These include all emergency trauma surgery, hip fractures, humeral fractures, long bone fractures, ankle fractures, all hand fractures, paediatric fractures and others. He has also expertise in elective procedures having significant experience in operations particularly spinal surgery. Some of the elective procedures include carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, wrist arthroscopy, cubital tunnel decompression, trapeziectomy, spine canal decompression, spine microdiscectomy, and others.

Dr. Mohannad Barakat has contributed towards several publications such as Multilevel Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Decompression – Mid-term outcome using a modified Hinge osteotomy technique,  An unexpected painful end – reply,  An early comparison of clinical and mechanical aspects of hybrid and uncemented hip resurfacing,  New technique of closed reduction and internal fixation of fracture dislocation of radial head in the skeletally immature forearm, New radiological appearance of osteonecrosis of the lateral condyle in tennis elbow and many more.

He is also an outdoor enthusiast and likes to participate in several outdoor activities. He passionately follows his hobbies and interests. He is fond of basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, football and cycling. He also likes to travel to new and unseen places.
