Mohannad Barakat is a qualified surgeon having membership of the Royal College of Surgeons and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Trauma and Orthopedics). He has received several accomplishments and achievements in the areas of trauma, orthopedic and spinal surgery. He is the recipient of various awards in the fields of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pathology. He is competent in performing trauma surgeries ranging from simple to complex of trauma cases and these include all emergency trauma cases, hip fractures, all hand fractures, all knee fractures, mid-foot fractures, pediatric spine infections and many others.
A medical professional, Mohannad Barakat has co-authored a number of publications on important medical aspects. Some of the issues addressed in these publications include Multilevel Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Decompression – Mid-term outcome using a modified Hinge osteotomy technique; An early comparison of clinical and mechanical aspects of hybrid and uncemented hip resurfacing; New radiological appearance of osteonecrosis of the lateral condyle in tennis elbow; Distal recurrence of periosteal osteosarcoma after complete excision of proximal primary tumor with good excision margins and many more.
Mohannad Barakat is involved with teaching and examination of students, junior and senior doctors at various stages of their education, allied professionals, and theater staff at a local, national and international level. He is the reviewer for the British Medical Journal, Journal of Joint and Bone Surgery and the European Journal of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology. He has the Oxford Teaching the Teachers Certificate, and is an examiner on the Miller FRCS course. He is often invited to give presentations at local, national and international level.
Apart from this, Barakat is a great cook with great enthusiasm for learning and experiencing new delights from the Asian, Middle Eastern and European cuisines. He has been on multiple courses and TV events that involve cooking and tasting. He likes to visit many different cultures to learn about their religions and customs ranging from the Buddhist teachings to Hindu customs. He performs his responsibilities in his professional and personal life with complete dedication.
